For the Filling

  • 4 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

For the Crisp Topping

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter cold and cut into small cubes

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prep the Apples

  • In a medium bowl, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until evenly coated.

Step 2: Arrange the Filling

  • Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 8x8-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

Step 3: Make the Crisp Topping

  • In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture is crumbly.

Step 4: Top the Apples

  • Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples, gently pressing down.

Step 5: Bake

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For deeper flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or swap in some maple syrup.
Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Can be made ahead and stored unbaked in the fridge for 24 hours.
