Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving plates

Ingredients

For the Sausage

  • 1 pound Italian sausage (sweet or spicy, as per your preference)

For the Gnocchi

  • 1 pound gnocchi (fresh or frozen)

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup spinach roughly chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For Garnish

  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

Brown the Sausage

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and break it apart using a wooden spoon. Sauté until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Tip: Choose spicy sausage for an added kick if preferred.

Add Gnocchi and Tomatoes

  • Once the sausage is browned, stir in the gnocchi and cherry tomatoes. Cook together for about 2-3 minutes.

Create the Creamy Sauce

  • Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine, allowing the sauce to gently simmer for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Tip: Use fresh garlic for extra depth if you have it.

Stir in Spinach

  • Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and stir it into the creamy mixture. Cook until the spinach wilts down, about 1-2 minutes.

Serve Warm

  • Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of basil leaves for a beautiful finish.
