Equipment

  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Tall glasses

Ingredients

For the Espresso

  • 2 shots (60 ml) espresso or strong brewed coffee

For the Vanilla Syrup

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

For the Drink

  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) milk or milk alternative
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Step 1: Brew the Espresso

  • Brew your espresso or strong coffee. The rich, robust flavor is essential for elevating your latte.
  • Tip: For the best flavor, use freshly ground coffee beans.

Step 2: Prepare the Vanilla Syrup

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool to room temperature.
  • Tip: Make extra syrup and store it in the fridge for up to a month.

Step 3: Assemble the Latte

  • Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes. Pour the cooled espresso over the ice, followed by your desired amount of vanilla syrup.

Step 4: Add Milk

  • Top off with chilled milk, stirring gently to combine the layers.
  • Tip: Frothing the milk slightly before adding it can create a creamier texture.

Step 5: Enjoy!

  • Give your latte a stir, sit back, and savor the refreshing flavor.
