Equipment

  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or milk frother
  • Serving mugs

Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the Latte

  • 2 shots espresso (or ½ cup brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or your preferred non-dairy alternative)
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cinnamon Syrup

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Tip: Double the syrup batch and store it in the refrigerator for a week to have on hand for future lattes.

Step 2: Brew Your Espresso

  • Prepare your espresso or brewed coffee according to your machine's instructions.
  • Tip: For a stronger flavor, use a darker roast or increase the amount of coffee.

Step 3: Froth the Milk

  • In a separate saucepan or using a milk frother, heat your milk until steaming but not boiling. Froth the milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Tip: If you like a more indulgent latte, use whole milk for a creamier texture.

Step 4: Assemble Your Latte

  • In each serving mug, pour one shot of espresso, then add 2 tablespoons of the cinnamon syrup. Stir gently to combine. Top with the steamed and frothed milk, filling the mug almost to the rim.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  • Finish your latte with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired, and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top.
