Equipment

  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Skillet for sauce
  • Colander for draining pasta
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

For the Pasta

  • 12 ounces pasta of your choice (penne or fettuccine work beautifully)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to package instructions, stirring occasionally until al dente.
  • Tip: Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining; it helps to thicken the sauce later.

Sauté the Garlic

  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it!

Prepare the Creamy Sauce

  • Lower the heat and add the sun-dried tomatoes to the skillet. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine and Serve

  • Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing it with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually stir in reserved pasta water until you reach the desired consistency. Finally, mix in the grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Tip: Taste your pasta before serving; adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Garnish and Enjoy

  • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves. Enjoy the vibrant colors and comforting aroma!

Notes

Pro tips: Opt for high-quality sun-dried tomatoes for richer flavor. Don’t overlook the importance of fresh herbs; they enhance the overall dish. You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version. Add a splash of lemon juice for a refreshing zest. Pair with crusty bread to soak up every drop of the creamy sauce.
